Measuring Guide

Tips:

  • Generally a Kurta Pajama can be as slim or loose fitting as is prefered, and measurements can be submitted depending on this preference.
  • We recommend taking all Kurta measurements while wearing a well-fitted dress shirt and pajama measurements while wearing well fitted pants (not jeans, as they sit lower).
  • When measuring for your Kurta Pajama, ask someone to help you to get more accurate measurements.
  • Do not flex your muscles while taking measurements, as it can lead to sizes being too big.
  • Wear the shoes you plan on wearing with your outfit (or the closest pair to them) when measuring for the pajama. Your shoes change the way you stand and alter your height, so you need to wear them when taking your measurements.

Kurta

Measurement Description
Neck: Wrap your tape measure around the base of your neck, underneath your Adam’s apple and just above your collarbone. Keep a one-finger gap while measuring. The tape should feel snug but not tight.
Shoulders: Measure shoulder-to-shoulder to help to find the width of your entire kurta. Start your tape measure at the seam of one shoulder (or joint of one shoulder). Then, run it across the top of your shoulders, behind your neck, and to the seam (or joint) of your other shoulder
Back-Center: Start by placing your tape measure the upper-center of your back, close to your armpit. Run the tape measure across from one side of your back to the other to record your measurement.
Sleeves: Place the end of your tape measure at the shoulder seam of your dress shirt. Then, slide the tape measure down your arm toward your wrist. Take the measurement at the point just past your wrist joint to find your proper sleeve length.
Chest: Raise both arms and run the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest, underneath both your arms. Go all the way around your body. Then, lower your arms to secure the tape measure and keep a one-finger gap while measuring.
Center: Run the tape measure around your torso, just underneath your chest. Go all the way around your torso and keep a one-finger gap while measuring.
Stomach: Run the tape measure around the fullest part of your stomach. Go all the way around your body and keep a one-finger gap while measuring.
Hips: Wrap the tape measure around your hips and the fullest part of your buttocks and take the measurement. The tape should feel snug on your hips.
Biceps: With your arm in a relaxed position, run the tape measure around the fullest part of your biceps and keep a one-finger gap while measuring. . The fullest section of your bicep is generally found exactly in the center of the upper arm.
Kurta Length: With your arms relaxed down at your sides, position the tape at the base of your neck and run it down the front of your body. Stop when the tape reaches the top of your kneecap (or preferred length) and take the measurement. The typical Punjabi Kurta stops at the middle of the kneecap, however, there are many ways to wear it according to your preference. So, you can make it as short or as long as you would like.
Cuff: Wearing a well fitted shirt, run the tape measure around the cuff of the shirt to measure the circumference. This is the best way to record this measurement. Alternatively, run the tape measure around your wrist with a three finger gap and record the measurement.
